Hear Lisa return with Scott Johnson and Peter Mingils as she explains her Amway series of stories to this Building Fortunes Radio listening audience. This is an interesting interview with Scott Johnson and Peter Mingils and a special guest Lisa. Lisa and her husband were with Amway for over 30 years. Although they are successful in a traditional business, they could really never make considerable profits with Amway, as most potential profits were re-invested in tools and meetings. You can see more of what Scott Johnson has on https://www.facebook.com/stoptheamwaytoolscam The Amway tools scam is a hidden profit scheme within the Amway multi-level marketing (MLM) structure that exploits distributors, often leaving them with financial losses instead of the promised wealth. Amway, a well-known MLM company, markets health, beauty, and home products through independent business owners (IBOs). While the company emphasizes product sales, the real money for top-tier distributors, often at the Diamond level or above, comes from selling motivational "tools” like books, tapes, seminars, and rallies, not from product sales. These tools, promoted as essential for success, create a separate revenue stream that disproportionately benefits upline leaders while draining the profits of lower-level distributors.Distributors are pressured to purchase these overpriced tools, often costing hundreds or thousands annually, with promises of learning the secrets to building a lucrative Amway business. However, studies and lawsuits reveal that 99% of Amway distributors lose money, with average earnings below $100 monthly after expenses. The tools business, controlled by high-ranking distributors like Dexter Yager, generates millions for the elite, who earn significant markups on items like cassette tapes sold at rallies for up to $10,000 a night in cash. Meanwhile, new recruits face high startup costs—starter kits, training sessions, and product samples—further eroding their profits. This creates a pyramid-like structure where uplines profit from downlines' purchases, not retail sales, resembling an illegal scheme. The scam thrives on coercion, with uplines leveraging mentorship and cult-like tactics to ensure compliance, threatening to withhold support if tools aren't bought. Legal actions, like the 2007 UK investigation, exposed deceptive practices, yet Amway often deflects blame to "independent” distributors. For most IBOs, the dream of financial freedom becomes a costly trap, enriching the few at the expense of the many. Jean Luc and Peter Mingils talk about boats that sail. His new 50 Foot Sailboat is the star of the show Peter Mingils and Jean Luc have enjoyed 434 radio shows on the Building Fortunes Radio network. Now, these weekly episodes can be heard on The Youmongus Radio Network too! Jean Luc was with Diane and they talked bout the new 50 foot sailboat he bought in the last episode. Today we talk about preparation and maintenance. Repainting a Fiberglass Sailboat Bottom: A Professional Guide: As a marine repair expert with years of experience in boatyard maintenance, repainting a fiberglass sailboat's bottom after lifting it from the water is a critical task to ensure performance and longevity. This process, typically done every 1-2 years, protects the hull from marine growth, osmosis, and wear. Here's a concise guide to doing it right, based on proven techniques and industry best practices. First, safely lift the boat using a travel lift or crane and secure it on stands in a well-ventilated, shaded boatyard. Inspect the hull for blisters, cracks, or flaking paint, as these indicate underlying issues like osmosis or poor prior application. For blisters, consult a professional, as they may require epoxy repairs. Next, clean the hull thoroughly. Use a pressure washer (1,500-2,000 PSI) to remove barnacles, algae, and loose paint. Avoid excessive pressure to prevent fiberglass damage. For stubborn growth, scrape gently with a plastic scraper. Sanding is the next critical step. Use 80-grit sandpaper on a random orbital sander to remove old antifouling paint and smooth the surface. Focus on creating a uniform, slightly rough texture for optimal paint adhesion. Wear a respirator, goggles, and gloves to protect against toxic dust. After sanding, wipe the hull with a solvent like acetone or a marine dewaxer to remove oils and residue. Ensure the surface is bone-dry before proceeding. Choose a high-quality antifouling paint suited to your sailing conditions—ablative for frequent sailors or hard paint for less frequent use. Copper-based paints are effective but check local regulations, as some areas restrict their use due to environmental concerns. Apply a marine primer if the gelcoat is exposed or if switching paint types, as this ensures compatibility. Use a roller for large areas and a brush for edges, applying 2-3 thin coats for even coverage. Follow the manufacturer's drying times—typically 4-6 hours between coats—and aim for a total film thickness of 10-12 mils for lasting protection. Finally, inspect your work for missed spots or runs, and sand lightly if needed before launching. Dispose of all waste responsibly, adhering to environmental regulations. A well-painted bottom reduces drag, prevents fouling, and extends your boat's life. For best results, schedule this during dry, mild weather (50-80°F) and consult a professional for complex repairs. Your sailboat will thank you with smoother voyages. The New Youmongus Radio shows are on https://youmongusradio.com . Harshman Travel Agency owners Pam Harshman and Ron Harshman discusses Expansion of Cruise Industry in second half of 2025 The Expanding Cruise Industry and the Power of Travel IncentivesAs a seasoned travel agent with over two decades in the industry, I've witnessed the cruise sector evolve into a dynamic powerhouse, reshaping global tourism and redefining vacation experiences. In 2025, the cruise industry is booming, projected to surpass $50 billion in global revenue, driven by innovative ships, diverse itineraries, and a growing appetite for unique travel experiences. This expansion, coupled with the strategic use of travel incentives, is transforming how businesses and individuals engage with cruising, making it an unparalleled tool for leisure, loyalty programs, and corporate rewards. The cruise industry's growth is fueled by several key trends. Modern cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and emerging eco-conscious brands like Icon of the Seas, are launching megaships with cutting-edge amenities—think onboard surf simulators, Broadway-caliber shows, and sustainable technologies like LNG-powered vessels. These floating resorts cater to multigenerational travelers, offering everything from adrenaline-pumping activities for millennials to wellness retreats for retirees. Smaller, luxury lines like Viking and Silversea are also thriving, providing intimate, destination-focused itineraries to exotic locales like Antarctica or the Galápagos. With over 30 million passengers expected globally in 2025, according to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the industry's appeal spans demographics, making it a versatile vacation option.Travel incentives are a game-changer in this landscape, amplifying the industry's reach. Companies across sectors—finance, retail, and even MLMs like Amway—are leveraging cruise-based rewards to boost employee performance, customer loyalty, and sales. Unlike cash bonuses, which are often spent on bills and forgotten, a cruise creates lasting memories, fostering emotional connections with brands. For instance, top-performing employees might earn an all-inclusive Caribbean cruise, complete with gourmet dining and shore excursions, while loyal customers might receive discounted or complimentary trips. These incentives drive engagement: a 2023 study by the Incentive Research Foundation found that travel rewards increase employee productivity by up to 22% and customer retention by 15%.Cruise lines are capitalizing on this trend by partnering with corporations to offer tailored incentive packages. Programs like Royal Caribbean's "Club Royale” or Carnival's "VIFP Club” provide exclusive perks—free upgrades, onboard credits, or private events—for corporate groups or loyalty program members. These partnerships benefit all parties: businesses gain motivated teams or customers, cruise lines fill cabins during off-peak seasons, and travelers enjoy dream vacations. Additionally, cruises are cost-effective for companies, as bulk bookings and negotiated rates reduce per-person costs compared to individual travel.Sustainability is another driver of growth. Cruise lines are investing heavily in eco-friendly technologies—hybrid engines, shore power systems, and waste reduction programs—to appeal to environmentally conscious travelers. This aligns with the values of younger demographics, particularly Gen Z, who prioritize sustainable travel. Ports are also expanding, with new terminals in Galveston, Texas, and Miami accommodating larger ships and boosting local economies. For businesses and individuals, the message is clear: the cruise industry's expansion offers unmatched opportunities. Whether you're a corporation seeking innovative incentives or a traveler craving adventure, cruises deliver value, variety, and unforgettable experiences. Contact a trusted travel agent to explore how a cruise can elevate your next incentive program or vacation. The horizon is calling—sail into it. Terry Kelliher hosts a Radio Show weekly on this Kell News Radio Show with Peter Mingils. On this episode, Terry Kelliher and Peter Mingils discuss the The Kell News Project being tweaked and refined. Based on positive feedback, the platform is being polished and within weeks of the official launch Understanding PEG Channels and the Impact of Government Funding Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) channels are specialized television channels operated by local governments, schools, or non-profit organizations to provide community-focused content. These channels serve as platforms for public access, educational programming, and government transparency, broadcasting everything from city council meetings to local events, school board discussions, and citizen-produced shows. PEG channels are typically mandated by the Cable Communications Policy Act of 1984, which allows local governments to require cable operators to set aside channels and resources for community use as part of franchise agreements. PEG channels are funded primarily through franchise fees paid by cable companies to local governments, often a percentage (up to 5%) of the cable operator's gross revenue. Some PEG operations also receive direct government funding, grants, or donations, though the reliance on franchise fees is significant. These funds support equipment, facilities, staff, and training for community members to create content, ensuring accessibility and diversity in programming that commercial media often overlooks. However, government funding decisions profoundly impact PEG channels. Budget cuts or reallocation of franchise fees can reduce resources, limiting operational capacity, equipment upgrades, or staff hiring. For instance, when municipalities face financial constraints, PEG funding is sometimes diverted to other priorities, leading to reduced programming quality or channel closures. Conversely, increased government support can enhance PEG channels' ability to modernize technology, expand digital platforms, or offer more community training programs, amplifying their reach and impact. The decline in cable subscriptions due to cord-cutting has also strained franchise fee revenue, putting pressure on PEG sustainability. Without stable funding, these channels risk losing their role as vital community resources. Ensuring consistent government support is crucial to preserving PEG channels as democratic platforms for local voices, education, and civic engagement. Dean exemplifies everything the Natural Industry should and could be. He is inclusive, dependable, honest, and driven. His goal-oriented nature has never come at the expense of his integrity or respect for others. Dean supports the notion that "none of us is as strong as all of us.” He believes in building connections and working together as a cohesive group, while still remaining cognizant and responsive to the strengths and needs of each individual within the team. Dean's mentality, along with his exceptionally positive attitude and strong core work values, touch people on a universal human level. This has led to Dean establishing constructive and enduring partnerships and professional developments despite physical borders, cultural differences, and logistical struggles. When reflecting on his career, Dean gains the most satisfaction from the partnerships that he has established and maintained. The group was created in 1991 and developed around the Naturally Flyer program and the Vita Health Private Label program. It started with 10 stores (7 in Winnipeg, 1 in Red Deer, 1 in Brandon, and 1 in Thunder Bay). Dean was recruited by John Holtmann and George Chow to bring the 22 stores from the Vita Health Private Label and the Naturally Flyer program together. Dean was tasked with keeping the stores together and building renewed added value programs. Dean went to work on developing the organizational committee structure. Member retailers were required to participate in at least one committee. By 2006, the network grew to 100 stores. Fifteen years later, the group has a total of 130 stores. Overall, Dean was instrumental in bringing the independent health food stores together to reduce costs and increase effectiveness. He improved marketing and communication of the independent health food stores and, in turn, gave consumers greater access to the benefits of natural products in Canada. Achievements: – New Committee Structure created by Dean and the newly appointed board. • Board of Directors: hand selected by Dean for their unique talents and skills. Dean recruited the board from members and added stores whose owners could contribute to the board. Each had a unique role within the board. Each board member also chaired individual committees. • Recruitment Committee: created a selection committee of member stores to recruit new members. Selection criteria was put in place along with protected territories and responsibilities to market to those areas. Each new member had to contribute to the group with skills or talents. A "buddy system” was created for each new store to bring them into the group. • Marketing Committee: led by a retail member who also owned her own marketing company. This group started yearly marketing meetings to set the yearly promotional program and items selection with the help of the top stores across the country and included big stores and small stores. This group implemented the flyer program but also introduce the Health First Newsletter program to target consumers with the first consumer data base. This group also implemented the website program for all stores to participate in. • Health First New Product Committee: combined the top innovative stores with professional stores. Naturopaths, herbalists, health practitioners served on this committee and were responsible for the development of the new Health First Brand. Dean was actively involved in revamping the Health First brand to a new brand that included blue bottles, metal caps, small sizes, high prices with unique formulas backed by the professionals in the group who endorsed and supported the brand. The brand was supported by in store training and programs to educate staff and consumers. • Technology Committee: met and evaluated new technologies including POS systems for members. • Food Committee: tasked with evaluating leading food brands and supporting members by selecting top food brands. The group consisted of larger food stores or those stores who had successful food sales. They were responsible for the food flyer. • HBA Committee: took on a role of evaluating top HBA brands and product categories. They assisted with product selection and educational programs in the HBA category. They also shared best practices on how to improve stores sales in this category, including merchandising, newsletter concepts, and promotions. • Merchandising Committee: worked on merchandizing concepts and product resets based on best practices. They developed a task force to be dropped into stores that were involved in supporting stores resets. • Finance Committee: worked with stores that needed assistance with restructuring leases and assisting with financial support. They looked into how Health First could assist retailers in the sale and transfer of ownership. • Communication Committee: worked alongside marketing with improvements to the flyer, direct to consumer, newsletter, website, and Dean's monthly update to members. • HR Committee: focused on recruitment and retention of staff for the stores. Explored possibilities of staff training, staff benefit programs, and CAFÉ (Canadian Association of Family Enterprises). Considered moving staff to different stores across the country to learn best practices. • AGM Committee: tasked with organization and implementation of the yearly Annual General Meeting that all stores were required attend. Quebec Caucus: consisted of stores from Quebec and how to recruit and how to implement more programs for French stores. During Dean's brief time with the group, he was able to solidify the group by bringing the retailers together and moving the groups retail sales from under 20 million in retail sales to just under 100 million in two years. Dean brought the group from 22 stores to 100 stores. The stores participation at the AGM grew to 100%. Private label skus moved to 36 items well sales increased by over 56% in the one year. Stores were so impressed by the progress that they voted unanimously to increase member dues from $100 a month to $200 a month. Given the program's success, word spread and the concept was picked up by two groups in the USA (Natural Synergies and INFRA). In a very short period of time, Dean was also able to visit each store across Canada to meet with members, as well as, vendors. Dean also implemented a Category Captain program for vendors to assist vendors to reduces cost and increase efficiencies. He was also responsible for testing a one-on-one-on one program with the top retailer of each key brand and the brand owner to work with a retailer who was struggling with that brand. This would help them learn best practices and increase their sales. Dean also implemented a top 10 stores list for each category, which was reported at the AGM to help drive business. He is a forward thinker and a tireless worker. There wasn't a member of the group who did not respect him and his ability to move a large, heterogeneous group forward at a solid pace with a result driven focus.” Angela Goldrup, Marketing Coordinator, Health First "Dean was instrumental in the vision, creation, and launch of the first and largest group of Canadian independent health food retailers to band together to form what is known today as the Health First Network. He led the group through two branding phases from United Health Merchants to Health First, as well as initiated membership annual meetings with buy-in from sponsoring partner vendors. Dean established annual marketing planning summits, which are still being carried out to date. He laid a great foundation for the continued growth of this network.” Robert McKay, Owner Vita Health Foods "Dean has not only been on the leading edge of the Health First Group and founder, the knowledge, work ethic's, but what l find that with Dean is his ability to motivate the people around him.” Deborah Callbreath, GM Prairie Naturals "Dean is a fantastic communicator and team builder. He is direct, honest and always quick to see potential, opportunities and the big picture. A true pleasure to work with and a brilliant person to learn from.” Alain Roy, Founder and President at Veeva Inc. "I worked with Dean during his Health First Network years. I always perceived Dean as being a visionary and sure enough, he was a key person in growing and formalizing this network which had previously operated more like a buying group. I worked with Dean as a supplier and an industry consultant and always found it an extremely pleasant, professional and fun task. Dean has been an inspiration to many in this industry, including many key players. I can't think of a better business partner.” Michael Theodor, President at MT Consulting "Dean was instrumental in organizing Canadian retailers into Canada's first "retailer buying group" many years ago. He is a true leader in the natural products industry, and has the skill set from many different facets of our industry. Distribution, supply, regulatory & retail. I would recommend Dean for any position utilizing his vast background, strong work ethic & great people & "numbers" skills.” Nicky French, Harmony Whole Foods Orangeville, Ont. "Mr. Yachison thanks so much for all you do for US! Your newsletters make me feel "connected” to the group on a regular basis. Even though we are stretched so far apart by physical distance, and although we may be different in so many ways from fellow member stores – your comments about our similarities and combined strengths that allow us to pull together such a diverse group to make us stronger and better! Great Work Dean! Yours in Health and HARMONY,” Dave Fuller, Ava Maria, Prince George, BC "Dean I too must say that I think you are doing an amazing job too since you have come on board full time. In fact, I have noticed: A renewed interest in HFN by many of the stores. I know for myself before you came on board, I questioned the value of the group. There seemed like there was a lot of pettiness, frustration, and tiredness in the group and with the vendors. However, your emails like these in sharing ideas are so important as is this newsletter keeping us informed of what is going on with the other stores and with our vendors throughout the country does help to unify the group. The group has really grown and I know that a lot of this is due to your efforts in recruitment. I have talked to stores who want to come on board because of you are at the helm and steering the ship where it seemed that everyone was too busy to have a vision before. The team you have in place Ian doing the flyers and promotional programs has been busy. Angela has been amazing in paying attention to details and getting the committees focused and Brenda with the financial stuff. However, we didn't have a captain for our ship and as far as I was concerned, we were drifting. Since you have been our leader I can tell you that the relationship with the vendors seems a lot smoother and I think some of that is due to the fact that many of the vendors have had a relationship with you in the past and have a lot of respect for Dean Yachison. Since taking the helm I noticed that the whole organization seems a lot more professional and a lot more excited and more competition within the member to do better. Dean I know how hard you work for the group. I have seen your emails come in on the weekends, at 3 am in the morning. I have talked with you when you have been in small cities across the country talking up the members and helping them buy into the whole concept of the group. You even came to Prince George, a place where I am lucky to get a rep. Dean you do need to hear that we have so much respect for you and your team. Keep up the good work we think you are doing a great job! Dave.” Don Oliver, Oliver Health Foods, Lethbridge, AB "We have had a business relationship with Dean Yachison for more than 20 years. It was Dean that got us excited about private label and this has contributed greatly to the success of our business. Dean's understanding and vision of the health food industry has helped stores across Canada compete with the mass market and be very successful. We have always found him to be dependable and trustworthy and of high integrity. We appreciate his happy personality and his ability to make people feel important. He is always highly motivated and passionate about his work. We have worked together on many projects and have been successful in large part because of his assistance. In fifty years in the health food industry we have found no other person to match Dean's knowledge, vision, and ability to motivate.” Janet Kaplan, Rainbow Natural Foods, Ottawa "I first met Dean through the private label and marketing programs of Vita Health, then one of our key suppliers. Every year Dean organized a get-together for all the small private label stores from across Canada. We came to Winnipeg to learn about new products and programs, network and have a great deal of fun thanks to Dean and his associates. Dean also kept in touch throughout the year by phone and visited our store whenever he could, Eventually Vita Health was sold to a bigger company and the focus was changed. Dean continued to organize and motivate the group of stores who had developed a relationship over the years and eventually gave us the confidence to start our own group, Health Frist covering marketing, purchasing, and private label products. I'm sure that we would never have done this without his support and mentoring. Health First has now grown to be a successful buying group incorporating 100 stores all across Canada and Dean has been a part of our growth both officially and unofficially over the years. Dean is fearless, hardworking, and relentless motivator with wonderful sense of humor and the ability to make people feel special and confident in their abilities.” Betty, Eric, and Tim MacMillan, Quarter Master Natural Foods, London Ont. "Although our relationship was rather short, we all appreciated your support and assistance in helping us join Health First Group. For a small business like ours, any move like that appears to have some risk at the outset, but I can honestly say, that after attending the AGM in Niagara last year, all three of us came away convinced we had done the right thing. In fact, I've even gone as far as to say unless an independent like us becomes aligned with a group like Health First, they will have a tough time being successful in the future. From our stand point your leadership was instrumental in us forming that opinion. You obviously had a tremendous impact on the growth and success of the organization to date we wish to thank you most sincerely for your support and guidance.” Boyd Yamamoto, Owner Sardis Health Foods and board member of HFN "I have known Dean for over three years and during that time have had the opportunity to work closely with him. His duties as CEO of Health First Network enabled me to meet with him personally and by email on a very regular basis. HFN currently consists of 100 independent health food stores in Canada that must meet a strict set of criteria to be allowed into this elite group. I am presently a board member of HFN. I know firsthand that during Dean's tenure as CEO he grew the organization to the 100 stores it is today and helped to facilitate it working structure. One of Dean's biggest attributes is his ability to motivate people to realize their full potential. On the retail level, I remember Dean saying, "It's my job to help grow your business not to make you feel comfortable.” For instance, he helped me realize the value of our Health First private label. He increased my margins and showed me how to use our brand to complement our key supplier's products, moving me from 78th to 6th in sales within one year. This was accomplished without taking away sales from my preferred vendors and would not have been realized without Dean's guidance. Furthermore, with 100 independent stores comes 100 different perspectives on issues from pricing on our national flyer to resolving conflicts with our key suppliers. Dean was the mediator during these situations and was able to handle these disputes in a professional, objective manner. He has been able to achieve this due to the high level of trust he has earned with both retailers and vendors. To be CEO of an organization like the HFN, that person needs to have good leadership skills, be able to handle pressure, meet deadlines, and work with different personalities. Dean has all these qualities and is a great motivator. When Dean's name comes up in conversation while talking to our preferred vendors, Dean is held in high regard and is respected throughout our industry,” George Chow, Owner of Peaches and Green Toronto, Ont. "If it were not for you, I would not have my business. Your leadership has had a huge impact on my business and my life.” Elton and Kathy Pachal, Owners Natural Rezources, Kelowna, BC "A special thank you also for your untiring effort to assist the "Health First Group” Your leadership makes this group work. You are a real help for each of our stores. You bring us together in spite of our differences. You inspire us to come together and work together for common good. We remain positive about the process because of your leadership.” Deane Parks, President Preferred Nutrition, Acton, Ont. "To me the key to business is the ability to have strong relationships. You brought this to the Group. To me it is important to maintain and build a strong relationship with suppliers, between members, and the group and all other associated groups. They have many strong personalities. I have been at meetings pre-Dean Y, where the communication became heated and, in some cases, lack discrimination. After you came on, I found a big difference in the way the group worked together. I also noticed retailers who had lost their zip had a renewed enthusiasm for the wonderful industry we work in. You gave me as a supplier hope for the group for as I have said before if there was no group my sales would be the same and my profitability would be better. I support the group for what it stands for by helping independent retailers regain hope, become better retailers and understand a bigger picture of the great business we are blessed to work in. I just want you to know I recognize the BIG difference you made with the Health First Group.” Founder and Vice President of Member Services Company Name: Natural Synergies Dates Employed: Jan 2005 – Dec 2006 Employment Duration: 2 yrs Location: USA Level of Supply Chain: Retail Class of Trade: Natural Dean Yachison was recruited as the Founder of Natural Synergies. MLM is a great industry for people who understand it and misunderstood and manipulated by people that look at anti-mlm content creators. Ken Nielson is a network marketing distributor, a leader and a pro at building a home based industry. See why it's easier today than at any time on starting a running a business. On this episode, It's about legitimate tax deductions like gas mileage and business use of the home in MLM. Peter Mingils shares some examples of how this may work in your MLM or any other type of home based business. Ken Nielson runs a home based business successfully and hosts this Building Fortunes Radio series to show people the benefits of building an MLM. Network Marketing still may be the best opportunity for personal health and financial stability in today's economy. http://freedomteam1.com is a place to opt-in to form more information about Ken Nielson's system. Ken Nielson displays this and a lot of other information on his website https://countonthetruth.com Here is one example of the mileage deduction: For independent contractors in 2025, the standard mileage deduction set by the IRS is 70 cents per mile for business use. It's important to remember that: This rate covers costs like fuel, insurance, lease payments, registration, vehicle maintenance, and depreciation. You must track your business mileage carefully, including the date, purpose, and miles driven for each trip. You can also deduct business-related parking fees and tolls in addition to the standard mileage rate. While Texas doesn't have a separate state mileage deduction rate, it generally follows the IRS guidelines for tax purposes. You have the option to use either the standard mileage rate or deduct your actual vehicle expenses. For independent contractors, the standard mileage rate is often simpler, but in some cases, deducting actual expenses could result in a larger deduction if your costs are very high The post Ken Nielson uses Legitimate Tax Deduction examples for MLM Business on Count on the Truth Radio with Peter Mingils appeared first on Building Fortunes Radio Network .…

Coach Irvin Harris and Peter Mingils talk about Post graduate Basketball programs on Basketball Coach News Radio Show. Greg "Budo" Carradine, Mel Jones, and Pee Wee Harrison will be listening in to catch up on a really significant conversation. Coach Irvin Harris and Peter Mingils highlight some of the recent shows and guests. On this episode, we discuss post high school graduate basketball preparation. Preparing for College Basketball: A Coach's Guide for Post-High School Graduates. As a basketball coach, I've seen countless high school graduates step into the college game, and the transition is no small feat. The summer before college is a critical window to prepare physically, mentally, and strategically for the challenges ahead. Here's my advice for making the most of this time to hit the ground running at the collegiate level. First, prioritize physical conditioning. College basketball demands elite endurance, strength, and agility. Develop a rigorous workout plan focusing on cardiovascular fitness, explosive power, and injury prevention. Incorporate sprints, plyometrics, and agility drills to mimic game situations. Strength training is non-negotiable—focus on compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses to build a strong foundation. Work with a trainer to ensure proper form and progression. Don't neglect flexibility and mobility; daily stretching and foam rolling can keep you injury-free. Skill development is equally crucial. College coaches expect refined fundamentals. Dedicate time to ball-handling, shooting, and footwork. Practice game-speed drills to improve decision-making under pressure. Study film—your high school games, college games, even NBA footage—to understand positioning, spacing, and defensive schemes. If possible, attend college-level camps or open runs to gauge the pace and physicality you'll face. Mentally, prepare for a steep learning curve. College playbooks are complex, and coaches demand quick adaptation. Start building mental toughness through visualization and goal-setting. Embrace challenges as growth opportunities. Connect with your future coaches to understand their system and expectations. If you're walking on, reach out early to express commitment and learn team culture. Finally, prioritize recovery and nutrition. Sleep 8–10 hours nightly, hydrate constantly, and fuel your body with balanced meals—protein, carbs, and healthy fats. Avoid burnout by balancing training with rest days. This summer is your launchpad. Train hard, study the game, and arrive ready to compete. College basketball waits for no one—be prepared to shine. Harshman Travel Agency discusses Expansion of Cruise Industry expanding in second half of 2025 The Expanding Cruise Industry in the Second Half of 2025 The cruise industry is poised for significant growth in the second half of 2025, driven by innovation, sustainability, and evolving traveler preferences. After a robust recovery post-pandemic, cruise lines are expanding fleets, introducing cutting-edge ships, and diversifying itineraries to capture a broader market. Major players like Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian are launching new vessels equipped with advanced technology, offering immersive experiences that blend luxury, adventure, and eco-consciousness. Sustainability is at the forefront, with cruise lines investing heavily in greener technologies. Liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ships, hybrid propulsion systems, and shore power capabilities are reducing emissions, aligning with global environmental goals. For instance, companies are retrofitting older ships with energy-efficient systems and adopting waste-reduction practices to appeal to eco-conscious travelers. These efforts are critical as ports tighten regulations and passengers demand greener travel options. Itineraries are also evolving to meet diverse interests. Beyond traditional Caribbean and Mediterranean routes, cruise lines are expanding into emerging destinations like Antarctica, the Arctic, and Southeast Asia. Expedition cruises are gaining traction, offering immersive experiences in remote regions with expert-led excursions. Meanwhile, themed cruises—focusing on wellness, music, or culinary arts—are attracting niche audiences, including younger travelers and families. Technology is enhancing the onboard experience, with AI-driven personalization, contactless services, and virtual reality entertainment creating seamless and engaging journeys. High-speed internet, powered by satellite networks like Starlink, is now standard, catering to remote workers and digital nomads. Despite challenges like geopolitical uncertainties and rising fuel costs, the industry's outlook remains strong. Booking trends indicate a surge in demand, with multi-generational travel and solo cruising on the rise. As cruise lines adapt to these trends, the second half of 2025 promises to redefine sea travel, blending innovation with unforgettable experiences. Patrick Seaton has a great guest on the Innovative Management Tools Building Fortunes Radio Show with Peter Mingils. Carrie Loranger explains Substack and how she uses it for multiple streams of income. Carrie Loranger was successful in Management and marketing on her own. Then she decided to generate multiple streams of income on her own. She found substack was a great way to accomplish this: Her substack link is: thrivewithcarrie.substack.com On this episode Carrie Loranger also mentions her three day Training on setting up your own Substack page. Learn more on https://camp.substack360.com What is Substack? Substack is an online platform, launched in 2017, that enables writers, journalists, podcasters, and other creators to publish newsletters, podcasts, and videos directly to their audience. It provides tools for content creation, distribution, audience management, and monetization through subscriptions. Substack allows creators to own their content and subscriber lists, offering a direct relationship with their audience without reliance on traditional media gatekeepers or social media algorithms. It's headquartered in San Francisco and has grown significantly, with over 5 million paid subscriptions by March 2025. How Substack Helps Create Multiple Streams of Income Substack offers several ways for creators to generate revenue, making it a versatile platform for building multiple income streams. Below are the primary methods: Paid Subscriptions The core monetization method on Substack is offering paid newsletters. Creators can set up free and paid tiers, charging subscribers monthly or annually (minimum $5/month) for exclusive content. Substack takes a 10% fee (plus Stripe's ~2.9% processing fee) on subscription revenue. Successful creators like Emily Atkin and Edwin Dorsey have earned six-figure incomes through paid subscriptions, with consistent, high-value content driving subscriber retention. For example, a creator with 1,000 subscribers at $5/month could earn $60,000 annually, minus fees. Affiliate Marketing Creators can incorporate affiliate links into their newsletters, earning commissions for promoting products or services relevant to their audience. By joining programs like Amazon Associates or ShareASale, creators can generate passive income when readers make purchases through these links. Earnings vary based on audience size and product relevance, but this method requires minimal upkeep once links are set up, provided recommendations align with audience trust. Sponsorships and Advertising Creators with sizable audiences can attract sponsorships, where brands pay to be featured in newsletters or posts. This is particularly lucrative for niche creators with engaged readers. Unlike traditional ad-driven platforms, Substack's model allows creators to negotiate sponsorships directly, retaining more control and revenue. Digital Products and Services Substack creators can leverage their audience to sell additional products like e-books, online courses, or templates. For example, platforms like Whop integrate with Substack to sell courses or premium content, as seen with The Pop-Up School. Creators can promote these through their newsletters, adding revenue streams without heavy reliance on subscriptions. Live Events and Community Features Substack supports live events, Q&A sessions, or workshops, which can be monetized through ticket sales or exclusive access for paid subscribers. Features like Substack Chat and Notes allow creators to foster community engagement, potentially leading to premium offerings like coaching or private group access. Pledges For creators not yet ready for paid subscriptions, Substack's Pledge feature allows readers to tip or pledge support on a monthly, yearly, or one-time basis. This is ideal for smaller newsletters building toward monetization. Considerations for Success To maximize income, creators must consistently deliver valuable content, understand their audience, and engage through Substack's tools like Notes and Chat. Building an audience takes time, and success depends on niche expertise, regular posting, and leveraging Substack's network for discovery (e.g., through recommendations). However, the 10% platform fee and the need for ongoing content creation can be drawbacks, and creators should diversify income to avoid over-reliance on subscriptions. By combining paid subscriptions, affiliate links, sponsorships, digital products, events, and pledges, Substack creators can build sustainable, diversified revenue streams while maintaining creative control. Terry Kelliher soft launched the new platform with a booth and his attendance at a Conference in Boston for PEG Channels. Terry Kelliher hosts a Radio Show to summarize his Public Access Media Project on this Kell News Show with Peter Mingils. On this episode, Terry Kelliher and Peter Mingils discuss the The Kell News Project being introduced at a conference for PEG Channels in Boston Massachusetts. Understanding PEG Channels and the Impact of Government Funding Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) channels are specialized television channels operated by local governments, schools, or non-profit organizations to provide community-focused content.
