Healing from an eating disorder is a whole journey. It lays down multiple steps that you need to take one by one. To get your recovery moving, one must learn how to sit with the discomfort of the process. And doing so starts with accepting that nobody has perfect digestion and relationship with food—not even the fully recovered. In today's episode of Full and Thriving: An Eating Disorder Recovery Podcast, Kate Noel explains the restrictive effects of diet culture on healthy digestion, what eating disorders help us to realize about our digestion, the essence of our relationship and beliefs regarding food, the struggles of discerning food anxiety from food sensitivity, and where you need to put your trust more in your journey to recovery.Learn from Kate Noel about the recovery thinking traps you need to avoid in this episode of Full and Thriving: An Eating Disorder Recovery Podcast!Do you trust your body?Diet culture has perpetuated the mindset of many—in the past few years—the need to manage everything about their diet. "Are you watching your gluten? Are you keeping track of your carbs? No—that has sugar in it!" If diet culture had a voice, that would be its script. Recently though, diet culture has been shifting its message. And that's a good thing! But with years of instilling a hypersensitive mindset to diet, the harmful effects have already taken their toll on most people. This resulted in a generation of people that love to hijack their body's natural functions on health—especially women, like parents who don't trust their kids with homework. This can be easily observed from individuals crazy with supplements, laxatives, and those with the strong urge to burn everything that they eat right away. It's like dumbing the body down. Unfortunately, today, the kind of mindset that opens doors to many eating disorders is what's normal.Hear Kate Noel explain how eating disorders weaken our digestion in this episode of Full and Thriving: An Eating Disorder Recovery Podcast!About Kate Noel:Kate Noel loves yoga. It connects her body, mind, heart, and soul. In 2018, Kate went on a yoga retreat to Bali while in HA recovery. It was there where she got her period back.
