Sandra Enders is a licensed psychotherapist in CT with a specialty license in addiction studies. She is no stranger to complex trauma (c-PTSD) and substance use disorder and adheres to a self-medicating the trauma explanation for it. She believes it isn’t the trauma itself, but the lack of support or emotional availability present at the time (Gabor Mate). Sandy teaches her clients more about identifying their early childhood traumas than she does about identifying today’s triggers, although both are important. She believes that the opposite of addiction is not sobriety; the opposite of addiction is human connection, empathy, and compassion. Favoring a harm-reduction approach to treatment, she uses alternative methods to mental health, such as spirituality, integration therapy, finding purpose in life, and raising vibrational energy levels. Once a higher dimension is achieved, high risk behavior falls away naturally.
