Karen Read’s Expert Just Proved the Prosecution’s Case—Oops
In today’s bombshell courtroom moment, Karen Read’s own expert may have unintentionally handed the prosecution a win.
Dr. Daniel Wolfe, an accident reconstruction specialist from ARCCA hired by the defense, took the stand to disprove that Karen Read struck John O’Keefe with her SUV. But the results of his tests did just the opposite.
Wolfe simulated taillight breakage by freezing a taillight and shooting a drinking glass at it using a cannon. That’s right—a cannon. The results? He couldn’t recreate the type of break that occurred on Read’s SUV, not even at speeds higher than those suggested in the prosecution's timeline. Wolfe even admitted that the glass didn’t shatter in a way consistent with hitting an arm.
Translation? The taillight didn’t break from some rogue snowbank or mailbox. It broke from something solid and human—like an arm. Just like the prosecution has claimed all along.
Worse for the defense, Wolfe’s tests didn’t align with the physical evidence on John O’Keefe’s clothing. The entire exercise undermined the dog-bite theory and cast more doubt on the defense’s shifting storylines.
Karen Read’s attempt to use “science” to create reasonable doubt just collapsed under cross-examination.
If this was the defense’s big moment, they may want to pack up and go home. Because even their own expert couldn’t clean up the timeline, the damage, or the growing pile of damning forensic evidence.
