In this episode, meet Meggan Hill-McQueeney. Through her incredible leadership, connection with people, horsemanship, coaching, and help from the horses she so adores – she inspires everyone she touches to believe in themselves and reach for the stars.

Guest Information:

Meggan Hill-McQueeney is a lifelong equestrian. Born without her right arm, horses have been a large piece of her life since the age of three. She developed a start-up therapeutic riding program in 1996 and began a second in 1999. Meggan is a PATH International Master Level Instructor, a Special Olympics (SO) coach, a PATH Evaluator, and on the SO Sports Management Team, and a USEF Paralympic Coach.

In 2010 Meggan stepped into the role of BraveHearts President/COO, and the program went on to become the largest nonprofit in the country serving military veterans through healing horsemanship. She is the 2015 recipient of the PATH Intl. James Brady Professional Achievement Award, honoring dedication, proven leadership, and high ethical standards, and her ability to develop and implement innovative, creative, and effective services for the industry. Meggan’s theories have resulted in the ability of BraveHearts to expand its veteran and various programs nationally, helping BraveHearts, a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center soar as the industry leader. Meggan’s desire to provide quality programming through higher-degree horsemanship with veterans is achieved through advanced concepts, including gentling wild mustangs, mentoring veterans to become PATH Intl. Certified instructors and working cattle.

In 2017, Meggan successfully launched “Trail to Zero,” a 20-mile horse ride to end veteran suicide. For the last four years, she has taken BraveHearts veterans, many riding their gentled mustangs, on 20 miles through NYC, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, and Lexington working closely with mounted police units and media through riding into prominent areas like Central Park, Ground Zero, Times Square, and in front of the White House to create awareness of what horses can do for eliminating veteran suicide. Meggan is a firm believer, as heard in her 2015 TED Talk, that all veterans deserve to be given limitless opportunities – and that belief is demonstrated daily through the veterans who organically begin to explore a world of possibilities because of the experiences with BraveHearts farms, horses, and staff.
