In this episode of FutureX, Martin Hurn and Oliver Jones speak to Joe Giddings from Built by Nature, a true pioneer in the nature-based solutions space.

Built by Nature is a network and grant-making fund dedicated to accelerating the timber building transformation in Europe: radically reducing embodied carbon; safely storing carbon in our buildings for generations; and sequestering carbon by championing forest stewardship and regeneration.

Listen to the conversation to hear Joe’s incredible journey through sustainable construction. From studying architecture, practicing architecture and co-founding architect activist group; the Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN). Joe’s work at ACAN led him to his role of UK Networks Lead at Built by Nature and also teaching a programme on the theme of bio-based materials, back where he studied at Oxford Brookes University School of Architecture.

Joe talks through the amazing work happening in the nature-based solutions space as well as the challenges around fire safety and combustibility.
