This is the Israel Defense and Diplomacy Forum (IDDF) – with Prof. Chuck Freilich, former Israeli Deputy National Security Advisor, and Danny Ayalon, former Deputy Foreign Minister and Ambassador to Washington.
In this podcast, one in a multi-part series on US-Israeli relations, Chuck and Danny discuss what the term “special relationship” actually encompasses, including military aid and cooperation, joint strategic consultations and planning, the US commitment to Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge, strategic diplomatic cooperation and more. They attach particular important to one lesser-known but critical aspect of the relationship – the US veto in the Security Council, without which Israel would have been subject to sanctions decades ago, including over its purported nuclear capabilities.
Look out for their upcoming podcasts on the ramifications of Israel’s elections for its national security (out on November 4) and how the US mid-term elections will affect the bilateral relationship (out on November 18).
Join us as they agree and disagree, in detail and in-depth, always respectfully, on the critical issues Israel faces.
