Jim Doiron's parents acquired the Sanford Dairy Queen in 1980, when he was seven years old, and soon introduced the brazier line. Following his father's passing in 1990, Jim graduated in 1991 and joined forces with his mother to sustain the business. His mother remains an essential part of the operation, and Jim also recognizes Kathy Giguere, a talented cake decorator who has been with Derry Queen since her high school days. Due to escalating overhead costs and competition from the nearby McDonald's, they eliminated the brazier line in 2009. In 2015, Jim and his mother invested in renovations, including the addition of a drive-thru. Ten years later, they revamped the exterior with a large red spoon and updated color scheme. Jim expresses his gratitude to his employees, past, present, and future, as well as the loyal customers who support the business through walk-in orders, drive-thru, and DoorDash. The 207 Collective Podcast is available on major listening platforms, and followers can stay updated on Facebook and Instagram.
