I (Paris) and Tina get deep into the gaps that are currently present when it comes to healing from sexual trauma, and how our own government and police forces have let victims down.

About The Blue Butterfly Institute:

The Blue Butterfly Institute, based in New South Wales and founded by Tina Meyer in 2021, is a not-for-profit organisation operating primarily online with a mission to provide FREE support, advocacy, and education for victims and survivors of sexual trauma, whom they refer to as "chrysalites." Tina, herself a survivor of sexual trauma, recognised the need for a central agency to address the gaps in support and education in the aftermath of trauma.

The institute offers FREE services tailored to children, youth, and adult survivors, as well as their families and caregivers. Tina's personal journey of healing, which began in 2017 during a leave from teaching, highlighted the intersection between her childhood trauma and her experiences as an educator dealing with allegations of sexual misconduct. This realisation led to the inception of the institute, fueled by a sense of urgency after encountering cases of delayed support for victims, including children.

Despite setbacks such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Tina persisted in bringing her vision to life. In January 2021, the groundwork for the institute began, culminating in its official establishment in April 2021. A team of volunteers joined Tina in shaping the institute's mission and objectives, emphasising advocacy, support, and community education on the impact of trauma. The institute's formation coincided with the onset of a prolonged lockdown in Greater Sydney, symbolising the collective trauma the organisation seeks to address.

Through its online platform and outreach efforts, The Blue Butterfly Institute strives to create a safe space for personal and community empowerment, raising awareness about the effects of sexual trauma while providing a pathway to healing and resilience.
