God is the Father Now with Steph Hendel
Manage episode 484270620 series 2484415
First episode, where everyone, including the producer was crying. This episode starts with me laughing like a goofball—remembering the moment I met Steph Hendel on September 28, 2012, at a RawBrahs retreat I was hosting with my brothers. It’s the day I met Diana—Divina’s mom—and the day Steph’s entire life took a new trajectory that eventually led her to reunite with he dream man, Josh Tarnofsky.
From there, the story only gets wilder: Steph, Diana, my brother Timothy, my business partner, and I all ended up traveling together through Peru for a month. It was kind of the world’s longest first date… and our friend-turned-fifth-wheel might’ve been the best fifth wheel in history. We talk about hiking Machu Picchu, getting robbed (and how the police somehow seemed sketchier than the thieves), and what it’s like to share a tiny room where I spent a whole night diarrhea-ing before asking Diana to be my girlfriend—with absolutely nothing left to hide.
And then… the laughter dissolves into tears I still don’t fully understand.
We talk about the supernatural love story between Steph and Josh—from a Breaking Normal proposal atop Angel’s Landing to their unforgettable wedding that I had the honor of officiating. We talk about Josh’s transition, and Steph’s raw walk through widowhood, parenting, and relentless prayer. Her heartbreak. Her hope. Her healing. Her realization that even though Josh is gone, her children are not fatherless—because God is the Father now.
She’s now back on the road with her two children, led by trust, speaking at widow’s retreats, and listening to God without needing the full plan.
My producer Yovel said this was the most powerful podcast we’ve ever recorded. I don’t disagree.
