The Pittsburgh Youth Chorus (PYC) is hosting an upcoming concert as a fundraiser to support their scholarship fund! Anna Singer talks with PYC's Executive Director, Lee Saville-Iksic, opera singer Marianne Cornetti, and former Pittsburgh Pirates player Steven Brault, about the upcoming Gala Fundraiser. The Pittsburgh Youth Chorus serves about 180 students annually, with camps, festivals, and concerts. Lee talks about the importance of offering tuition assistance and scholarships to students each year. Marianne highlights her longtime collaboration with PYC. She is an advocate for early choral education, and talks about the backstage interactions she has had with students at the Pittsburgh Opera. Steven talks about his career in music! He holds a vocal degree from Regis University. Over the years, he has balanced singing and baseball, and talks about the similar pressures of both. Finally, they talk about the program, which includes duets between Marianne and Steven. There will also be singing with PYC students, a barbershop quartet, and a piano trio! You can attend Pittsburgh Youth Chorus's "A Million Dreams" fundraising gala on Wednesday, June 18th at 5:30 pm at Greystone Fields.
