Because of what the Teamsters called a “historic win,” full-time drivers at UPS now make $170,000 a year.
“Sounds great,” says economist Liya Palagashvili, but she points out it only helps “workers who get to keep their jobs.”
Many didn’t.
Union “wins” often lead to loss for workers down the road.
Teamsters threatened to strike at Yellow Corp, one of America’s largest freight companies.
The higher labor costs meant Yellow shut down… for good. 30,000 workers lost jobs.
Time and again, union demands hurt the workers they claim to help.
