Russian forces launched a drone and missile strike on Kyiv, killing two people, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city's military administration. Another 16 people were injured, 10 of whom were hospitalized, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. At the same time, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that two people were killed and 13 others injured.
In the Ukrainian capital’s Shevchenkivskyi district, a drone crashed onto the roof of an apartment building, Tkachenko said. Klitschko, meanwhile, reported that debris had struck the building, sparking a fire on the top floor. Ukrainian Telegram channels shared photos showing the damage.
Tkachenko said the attack caused fires in residential buildings, warehouses, office and non-residential facilities, and at a gas station. Vehicles were also damaged.
In the Podilskyi district, a clinic’s outpatient building was almost entirely destroyed, Klitschko said.
A thick haze settled over the city after the explosions, Ukrainian media reported.
Russian forces also attacked the surrounding Kyiv region with drones and missiles. One person was injured and hospitalized, according to local authorities.
