Christy Kadharmestan joined Amway in 2022 as Principal Research Scientist – Formulation under our Nutrilite™ brand. She dedicates her research to elevating new human clinical findings, novel technologies, and advanced process methodologies that support healthspan –
the number of years a person is able to enjoy a healthy, active, and independent life.
"I love being a scientist. I've dedicated my entire professional career to Research and Development, formulating new and novel products that help people live healthier, better, and longer. I believe that knowing and understanding human science is the only way to fulfill that goal.”
A lifelong curiosity for science brought Kadharmestan to Amway R&D. Her diversified technical experience in the areas of product and process development, quality, and international food laws and regulations make her an invaluable member of our team. Her current focus is on the platforms of Women's Health and Healthy Aging, both of which leverage her passion as a female scientist. Prior to Amway, Kadharmestan spent 17 years at Pharmavite (a subsidiary of Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, Japan), where she helped launch many different Nature Made® dietary supplement products across global markets.
"Having been in the industry for almost 30 years, I can say with certainty that my Amway R&D colleagues are the very best in the industry. Smart, creative, receptive, kind, hardworking, and helpful – they are my inspirations daily.”
Kadharmestan holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology, with an emphasis in Dairy Science and a minor in Chemistry, from California State University at Fresno; a Master of Science in Food Science, with an emphasis in Cereal Chemistry, from Washington State University; a Master of Jurisprudence in Global Food Law from Michigan State University; and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Washington State University, Global Campus. She also earned a Certificate in International Food Laws, with an emphasis on Global Food Law, from Michigan State University, and a Distinguished Toastmaster certification from Toastmasters International.
Since 2014, Kadharmestan has taught MPTX (now RSCI) 514: Regulation of Food and Dietary Supplements, an upper division course at the Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Southern California, to Pharmacy/Medical/Regulatory students and professionals. She is also an author and collaborator on papers and textbook for influential peer-reviewed publications focused on science and global food regulations.
When not being physically active in the lab, Kadharmestan enjoys martial arts with her son and partner. Together, they hold blackbelts in Moo Yea-Do, Taekwondo, and Karate, respectively.
