Dr. Ira Rashbaum’s Blueprint for Mind-Body Healing
Manage episode 495216528 series 2500831
In this follow-up episode, Dr. David Hanscom takes a dive deeper into Dr. Ira Rashbaum’s approach to treating chronic pain through mind-body medicine. Dr. Rashbaum, who worked alongside Dr. John Sarno for two decades, shares how he carefully diagnoses overlooked conditions, guides patients through therapeutic education, group support, and journaling, and addresses the emotional roots of pain—including rage and stress. He discusses success rates, the power of small-group meetings, and how his upcoming book and study guide will continue to help patients heal holistically. From back pain to tinnitus and even frozen shoulder, Dr. Rashbaum reveals how treating patients as whole human beings leads to lasting relief.
Dr. Ira Rashbaum is a clinical professor of rehabilitation medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and is a successor to the father of mind-body pain medicine, Dr. John Sarno. He has treated patients with mind-body pain for 32 years and wrote a chapter in Dr. Sarno’s latest book, The Divided Mind. Dr. Rashbaum is writing a new book drawn from his experiences in his career treating mind-body pain. For more information, visit: https://www.irarashbaummd.com/
PLEASE NOTE: Dr. Rashbaum is currently on medical leave and is not seeing patients and does not have telemedicine privileges in Connecticut and Florida until November 2025. He also will not be doing lectures until November 2025.
