Dominion to Care and Serve not Use and Exploit

“You have given them dominion over the works of your hands;” - from Psalm 8:6

When we have toxic minds we tend to hear and read things in toxic ways. Toxic thinking leads to toxic living, leads to outcomes.

The unrenewed mind hears the word dominion,

as domination and control. The toxic mind understands having dominion as having the power and authority to use and exploit as they see fit. Too many of us think that’s what being a leader in charge is.

Jesus wants us to think about leadership differently. Shortly before his execution, Jesus modeled a different kind of dominion, a different kind of leadership. As leader he took on the humblest job of washing the disciples dirty feet.

Then he said this: Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” (John 13:14-15)

We have dominion to care, serve and protect not to control, use, and exploit.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
