148 - My podcast studio when I'm on the go. This set up allows me to podcast, record Skype / phone interviews, all from my backpack. Read the article here: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/podcasting-made-mobile-your-podcast-travel-solution_us_5a32c8f0e4b0e1b4472ae475 Watch the 'Podcasting Made Mobile' video here: http://youtu.be/sz3p2qg8iqc?a This video is a quick tutorial on how to podcast on the go. Even when you are traveling, the show must go on. Don't miss out on an interview or a podcasting opportunity just because you don't want to haul around a bunch of bulky equipment! You may remember me last year's popular podcasting tutorial, Podcasting Made Simple. This is even simpler!! Ever had a podcast interview that you didn't want to get away but you're traveling?? Nobody wants to travel with bulky podcast equipment, such as microphones and mixers, especially through the airport. TSA loves to go through podcast equipment! This demonstration is for a Mac computer. I'm sure you can do this with a PC, I just haven't investigated how. Full disclosure, Spreaker has already laid out the way to record with Skype. It can be found here: https://blog.spreaker.com/2016/06/10/how-to-sync-skype-with-spreaker-studio-for-desktop/. I will still demonstrate how to record a Skype interview on the road, as well as a wi-fi call, and a google hangouts call. Here is the equipment: Before I get into the specific equipment, let me recommend a backpack that will make your life easier, especially if you have a laptop you travel with. The SwissGear Travel Gear 1900 Scansmart TSA Laptop Backpack. You just flip the bag open and Your laptop and tablet stay secure without you taking it out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007R6JPC4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Jabra UC VOICE 550 Duo Corded Headset. Although I included the Amazon link, I found mine on Ebay for $15 vs the $50 Amazon price, so do your due diligence. https://www.amazon.com/Jabra-VOICE-Corded-Headset-Softphone/dp/B005NPHQ04/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1513022412&sr=8-1&keywords=Jabra+uc+voice+550+duo+headband+corded+headset MacBook Pro Skype App for Mac https://www.skype.com/en/get-skype/ Soundflower https://soundflower.en.softonic.com/mac/download Spreaker Studio for Mac https://www.spreaker.com/download That's it!! Quite honestly, if you are just starting out I would try to podcast like this first. Although my Podcasting Made Simple set up (insert link) is easier than most, it still requires an investment. While not top of the line, my mobile set up has decent quality and a minimal monetary investment. I am recording the remainder tutorial via the mobile set up just to demonstrate that it will sound good. Obviously, you want to pick a quiet spot. The headset I am using has good noise cancellation qualities, even when I have had to test recordings in public.
