Allison Hurtado is the Community Outreach Specialist for CASA of Arizona, a program of the Arizona Supreme Court. She provides tools and guidance to all the county CASA programs in Arizona to help with their outreach and recruitment efforts. Allison has a Journalism degree from Arizona State University and prior to holding this position she was a reporter for Ahwatukee Foothills News from 2010 to 2015, covering everything from local crime and government to schools and community events. Her favorite stories to tell were those of lives being changed through the kindness of others which made the transition to the CASA Program a natural fit. Children in foster care have a special place in her heart as Allison has been an “aunt” to dozens of foster children over the last eight years—three have been successfully adopted by her sister and brother in law. Allison and her husband recently became licensed foster parents as well and have enthusiastic support from their two biological daughters to take on this new adventure.
