About Our Special Guest:

Dawn Johnson is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana with a B.A. in History and a minor in Education. Dawn was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago where she graduated from Kenwood Academy High School.

Dawn has worked as a Peace Ambassador for the non-profit organization The Support Group mentoring and teaching the anti-violence curriculum from 2016-2019. Dawn is currently, working as a Museum Docent at Hermann-Grima Historic Houses in Louisiana, presenting oral history on urban enslavement, decorative arts, and 19th century wealthy Creole Families of New Orleans. As a passionate historian, her focus is to create immersive experiences through exhibitions to encourage youth to engage more in African American history.
