Scientists recorded this fin whale song (sped up 10x) and analyzed the echoes after each louder call. Some of them are reflected from the Earth's crust and can be used to map the ocean floor, Václav Kuna of the Institute of Geophysics in Prague and John Nábelek of Oregon State University report in the journal Science today.
