Welcome to “Beat The Mental Health Out Of It!” with your hosts, The DEFECTIVE Schizoaffective and IndyPocket!

The show where we have candid, unscripted discussions about everything related to mental health with a twist of humor and no-holds-barred!

THAT’S RIGHT! I SAID IT!

but it’s not what you think.

This episode was recorded in reaction to a TikTok video I posted comparing mental illness to cancer and was originally released as a cheeky little teaser of the podcast.
That video really took off—over 40k views across all my socials!
It clearly struck a nerve with many of you, and, let’s just say, not all the feedback was sunshine and rainbows!
We revisited the subject of that original TikTok post to clarify my thoughts and sprinkle in even more details and examples.
Our hope was to make it easier for everyone to grasp—and maybe even a little less controversial (albeit, unintentionally so) than my first go-round!

So, why compare the two to begin with?

The whole idea was to illustrate how mental illness IS A TERMINAL ILLNESS, just as cancer is.

Everyone knows what cancer is and how deadly it can be, so that’s why I chose that to juxtapose with mental illness.
To clarify, we share our thoughts about the following:

- How we ARE NOT comparing the symptoms of each illness, but the SUPPORT cancer patients receive versus the JUDGMENT those of us with mental illness incur

- Why mental health is EQUALLY as important as physical health

- How ALL illnesses, mental and physical, should be treated with same care, attention, respect and priority

- Details from workers in the field of mental health (i.e. YOUR HOSTS) and how poorly they are treated, the lack of quality care, the stigma these individuals receive and why this needs to change
And one more GENTLE reminder:
We’re NOT saying that having a mental illness is worse than having cancer!
Quit judging this damn episode by the title and listen with an open mind!
Let’s “BEAT THE MENTAL HEALTH OUT OF IT!”… AND CANCER!

BEAT IT ALL!!!

Stay healthy… take this shit “cereal”… and ENJOY THE SHOW!
