Week 790: “Wolfe’s End” by Alsever Lake
Manage episode 491632155 series 1375605
A checklist for a successful cottage stay:
- Really savouring that first sip of a cold drink
- Taking your first steps into the lake and letting out a little “woo” in reaction to how cold it is
- Reassuring the next person who makes that noise that it’s actually really warm once you get used to it
- Going to the local mom and pop general store to buy the thing(s) you forgot to pack
- Napping
- Forgetting what day it is
- Gradually completing a collaborative jigsaw puzzle
- Reading a book so good that you don’t want it to end
- Reading a book so terrible that you don’t want it to end
- Skipping rocks
- Roasting one perfect marshmallow followed by five extremely imperfect marshmallows
- Setting off fireworks, whether or not it’s a holiday
- Listening to the Album “Windermere” by presumed cottage connoisseur Adrian Walther, aka Alsever Lake
What makes this a beautiful song:
1. When his fingers slide along the guitar’s fret board, it kind of sounds like a screen door creaking open.
2. The synth pads in the background are like watching distant weather come closer.
3. The little plinky-plinks at 1:44 are like drips of water falling from a bathing suit.
Recommended listening activity:
Any or all of the above.
