Thriving marriages fight for purpose, not perfection (Ephesians 5:21-30). Without question, marriage is under attack, and we are often losing the battle because of passivity. The truth is that no one stumbles into a healthy marriage; it requires work and effort. It requires mutual submission to one another, as well as unconditional and sacrificial love (agape love). When our marriages have purpose – when we are fighting for our marriages –they begin to be characterized by submission, forgiveness, fair fighting, and outdoing your spouse.
