Joel and Sina sit down with Nina Teicholz—an investigative science journalist and bestselling author known for shaking up everything we thought we knew about dietary fat.

In this riveting conversation, we dive headfirst into the newly proposed food pyramid for those with metabolic disease, take on stubborn myths about the low-carb lifestyle, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how some of our most familiar foods are formulated.

Nina, who holds a PhD in Nutrition, doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to questioning the status quo. Prepare for plenty of “aha” moments—and a few laughs—as we chat about why rethinking our plate composition can help fight obesity and chronic disease.

Nina’s Bio:

Nina Teicholz has a PhD in Nutrition, specifically focused on dietary guidelines. She is an investigative science journalist and leader in nutrition reporting who is challenging the conventional wisdom on dietary fat–particularly, whether saturated fat causes heart disease and whether fat really makes you fat. The New York Times bestselling author of The Big Fat Surprise, Teicholz founded The Nutrition Coalition, an independent non-profit group that promotes evidence-based nutrition policy. She argues that diets lower in carbohydrates are a scientifically sound approach for reversing nutrition-related diseases.

Community Question:

“Have you ever tried a low-carbohydrate or ketogenic diet? If so, what were the results?”
