God’s ways are often surprising.

In the eyes of many in Jesus’ day, shepherds were unclean, uncouth, and unsophisticated ‘bogans’, to use an Australian slang. By the social standards of the time, they were uniquely unqualified to be the first to receive such monumental news, and to share it with others.

Yet it was to these humble shepherds that the angel appeared, heralding our Lord and Saviour’s arrival in Bethlehem.
