a spotlight on the Scripture, Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. In today's world, many profound truths and values are often questioned or challenged. This description of God creating heaven and earth is understood to be: (1) recent, i.e., thousands not millions of years ago; (2) ex nihilo, i.e., out of nothing; and (3) special, i.e., in six, twenty-four-hour periods called "days" and further notable as such by this phrase, "the evening and the morning." Scripture does not support a creation date that makes the earth any more than about ten thousand years old. Remember, the Bible says In the beginning, God. All beginnings should start with God. Always put Him first, whether it's the first stone in a building, the first thought in the morning, or the first goal of every activity. Start the year with God, and you will end it with His glory. Even if your life feels chaotic and empty, don't be discouraged. God's Spirit is within you, and His Light will shine through. Jesus' presence will stir your heart and guide your life, helping you see the difference between good and evil. Follow His light, and you won't walk in darkness. God's days start in the evenings and always end in the mornings."
