a spotlight on the Scripture Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

The Word of God is the most powerful tool we have. Jesus acknowledges that people need food to live, but He says that God's Word alone can sustain life. Jesus trusted His Father and relied on God's Word, rather than any other resources. This principle applies broadly: since all creatures are part of God's plan and He can do everything without their help, we should depend solely on His Word. Whether we have food or not, we should trust that God will take care of us through His Word.

There are two kinds of bread: the first and most important is God's Word, which comes from heaven, and the other is earthly bread, which comes from the ground. If we have God's Word and focus on it, earthly bread will follow. With such faith, we can overcome greed, lust, and worries about food.

If Jesus, the living Word, needed to use the written Word (Deut 8:3) to face His challenges, how much more do we need to? Our Father has given us His Word, the Bible; let's use it
