After yesterday’s tragic death of 2 infants in Gainesville, Safe Kids Coalition of North Florida is working to provide car seat protection, and educate adults on proper use of the seats. Surveys say over 95% of car seats are misused. A special event Tuesday August 5th at the High Springs Civic Center will give advice to parents, and provide free seats for eligible caregivers. Also, National Night Out is a fun event with City officials, law enforcement and fire-rescue personnel. Car seat safety checks start at 5pm. Night Out starts at 6pm, with games, bike helmet giveaways and freebies for kids going back to school. Follow HS Police or HS Fire Rescue on social media for more info
