About 95% of people in England will be affected by acne at some point in their lives, and yet discussing it and its effects is still considered taboo by many. With symptoms ranging from mild to severe, acne is caused when hair follicles become blocked, resulting in spots, oily skin and sometimes skin that’s hot or painful to touch. It can be both physically painful and emotionally distressing, and may lead to a loss of confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. In this episode, online creators Scott McGlynn and Izzie Rodgers reveal their personal experiences of acne, including how they manage it, how they feel about it, and why they believe it’s so important to normalise conversations about it.

Please be aware that this episode includes open and honest discussions around mental-health issues including anxiety, depression, and self-harm, which some listeners may find upsetting.
