Western Sydney Wanderers have played finals just once in the past seven seasons, but took another huge step towards a return with three points against Western United on Sunday. Alen Stajcic has overseen gentle progress on the field and in the stands in his first campaign at Parramatta, and returns to the show with it all before them as the regular season draws to a close.
Then, to Madrid, where Arsenal are en route for a Champions League semi-final second leg which they’ll commence with a 3-0 aggregate lead. The Athletic’s James McNicholas goes one-out with Derek, as the thrill of their first-leg success sharpens into the reality of the second half of the job.
