16 people in Clare are reported to have been bitten by dogs in the first four months of this year. All instances were serious and resulted in fines, hospitalisations or the dog needing to be surrendered. Clare's Dog Warden, previously was only required to document livestock attacks but under a new directive from the Department of the Evironment, attacks on people must now be documented. Frankie Coote says owners need to be aware they can be taken to court if they fail to control their dog.
