Lieu de naissance de rois, résidence de chasse, forteresse, palais de la Renaissance, il devient berceau du classicisme, avant d’être transformé en musée Musée d’Archéologie nationale inauguré par Napoléon III. Au cœur du château, un joyau : la chapelle palatine. Chef-d’œuvre du gothique rayonnant, baignée de lumière, elle inspira les saintes-chapelles du royaume. Le château fut aussi un théâtre de guerre, de splendeur, d’abandon. Puis de résurrection. Aujourd’hui, il abrite le Musée d’Archéologie nationale et garde la mémoire des peuples et des pierres. Un lieu de contrastes, entre grandeur passée et vitalité présente. Un monument vivant, face à l’éphémère. Bienvenue dans l’histoire de l'architecture en majesté. KOZ architectes a été créé en 1999 par Christophe Ouhayoun et Nicolas Ziesel, tous deux diplômés de l’ENSA-Paris Belleville. Avec l'édification de l'immeuble le plus haut en structure 100% bois de France à Strasbourg, la co-coordination du Lot E du Village des Athlètes des Jeux de Paris 2024, ou le siège du Rectorat de Créteil, l'agence se positionne comme particulièrement stimulante au coeur du paysage français. Tout juste de retour d'un workshop pas comme les autres, Nicolas Ziesel vient témoigner dans Com d'Archi sur son parcours, les projets, la philosophie de l'agence très liée à la mise en oeuvre du bois et le monde auquel il est particulièrement attentif avec son associé et l'équipe. A 13th-century medieval fortress, a Victorian manor house embedded in its ruins, and an Elizabethan theater renowned for its ecological audacity: Hardelot is an architectural palimpsest where centuries dialogue with one another. Philippe Hurepel designed an innovative octagonal enclosure, the English added a Gothic revival in the 19th century, and the 21st century grafted on a theater made of wood and bamboo, subtly blending into the landscape. Entre les dunes blondes et la forêt d’Hardelot, se dressent les vestiges d’un château pas tout à fait comme les autres… Forteresse médiévale du XIIIe siècle, manoir victorien incrusté dans ses ruines, théâtre élisabéthain primé pour son audace écologique : Hardelot, c’est un palimpseste architectural où les siècles dialoguent. Philippe Hurepel y trace une enceinte octogonale innovante, les Anglais du XIXe y plaquent un gothique revival, et le XXIe siècle y greffe un théâtre en bois et bambou, subtilement fondu dans le paysage. En cette année 2022, la série d'été de Com d’Archi accompagne l'inventaire des richesses architecturales françaises. Du 4 juillet au 28 août, se succèdent des promenades architecturales à travers des demeures, des châteaux, connus et moins connus. Les quatre premiers numéros sont écrits par Esther Greslin. Les quatre numéros suivants sont écrits par Anne-Charlotte Depondt qui porte, par sa voix, la version française. Esther prête sa voix à la version anglaise. Dans ce quatrième numéro, nous parlons du Château du Champ-de-Bataille dont la première pierre fut posée en 1751. En 1992 l'architecte d'intérieur Jacques Garcia le rachète, le restaure et lui redonne tout son lustre.
