About Brooke

Brooke Nixon is a proud Maryland native and honors graduate from Christopher Newport University (B.S., Computer Information Science and Psychology) and Wake Forest University (M.A, Experimental Psychology). As Miss Maryland Volunteer 2025, Brooke works heavily with her initiative #TechTelligence, which is dedicated to promoting cyber safety, teaching technical literacy, and equipping individuals with the tools to build cyber resilience. Through her published children’s book, Tessie Turtle’s Cyber Adventure, law and policy advocacy, and national partnership with the Girl Scouts of the USA, her work has reached thousands across the country.A nationally recognized researcher, Brooke’s studies in developmental psychology and human-computer interaction have been featured in media including NPR’s “With Good Reason” radio show and led to publications in the Journal of Language and Social Psychology and the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, among others. Her passion for cybersecurity has led her to work with prestigious organizations including the State Employees Credit Union and United States Navy. She is honored to be a part of the Miss Volunteer America organization and represent her home state at the national competition in June!
