Before becoming the Editor in Chief of Views, I needed to give up the reigns of the podcast feature and I turned them over to Foster Winter, who did an absolutely wonderful job with it. His calming voice and insightful questions took our podcast feature up a few notches and I am grateful for his presence on our committee.

Many of you know that Foster lost a battle with cancer earlier this year and I wanted to use some space in this edition of Views to acknowledge his contributions to the podcast feature and to Views magazine.

I’m also happy to announce that we have a new episode to share featuring author April Bell. April is an empathy researcher and the author of The Fire Starter: Igniting Innovation with Empathy. April loves to solve problems. She has conducted more than 11,000 hours of empathy research through her boutique research agency, April Bell Research Group, working with many of the world’s giant brands such as PepsiCo, P&G, Hewlett Packard, and Pfizer to name a few.

How did April get into the insights business? How did she uncover how important empathy is to her work? Where did the idea for The Fire Starter come from? Tune in to hear the answers to these questions and uncover the important lessons she learned about herself during the writing process.
