This is part 1 of 2 of my interview with Mitch Stevenson.

Mitch Stevenson is a CrossFit Games athlete (individual & team), CrossFit coach for CrossFit i1uvit, former college futbol (soccer for Americans) player for George Fox University and a standout player in his high school years at Lynden High School.

Mitch isn't the loudest person in a room, but his demeanor, presence and quiet confidence certainly speak loudly of him as a competitor and man.

In this Part 1 interview, we talk about

  • The reason he didn't sign-up for the CrossFit Open (the first time in 11 years)
  • The process of finding out about his medical ailment.
  • The steps he's taking to following the doctor's orders of moving, but while managing the symptoms
  • When you hear "no", but if you listen, there are so many other things to say "yes" to.
  • Coaching other gym athletes & motivating them to reach quarterfinals and beyond
  • Working with a talented, motivated teen athlete to reach the CrossFit Teen Games.
  • New opportunities he previously couldn't pursue due to competitions & training.
  • Commercial fishing with his father in law & the excitement of a new challenge.
  • Reading
  • and much more!

I've known Mitch for about 23 years, from the time he was an 8 year old playing in the backyard his cousins and my son, all the way to now, as he's grown into a fantastic man, coach and mentor to so many athletes & fitness enthusiasts who want to just get healthier. I know you'll love hearing from Mitch, as much as I did interviewing him.
