Gretchen is a leader in our field. As one of only four lawyers serving on the California Judicial Council, she guides our court system’s present and future operations. She does this while maintaining a full practice as a partner with Nelson & Fraenkel, where she focuses on complex class actions, business torts, and cruise ship and maritime matters. Each area in which she focuses is tailored to her style – complicated high line work that requires tremendous focus. Given her history, including representing family members from the 1986 Cerritos Air Disaster where 82 people were killed when a Piper Cherokee collided with an Aeroméxico flight over Los Angeles, it is no surprise that she has a passion for social justice. This passion was nurtured by her father, a former US Navy test pilot who earned his law degree at night school and went on to make his own social justice impact.
So please sit back and enjoy this conversation with the wonderful Gretchen Nelson!
