Small towns across America are navigating the delicate balance between growth and preserving their unique character. Here in Cross Roads, Texas, we've just witnessed a perfect example of how thoughtful development can enhance community life while maintaining our cherished small-town atmosphere.
The big news has everyone talking: Lowe's Home Improvement is coming to Cross Roads! After years of planning, they'll build adjacent to Walmart off FM 424 and Highway 380. What makes this particularly exciting is how it supports our town's commitment to zero property tax for homeowners. That's right—when you look at your tax bill under "Crossroads," you'll continue seeing that wonderful zero, thanks to commercial developments like this generating revenue instead.
Our recent town council meeting was packed with significant moments beyond the Lowe's announcement. Mayor Tompkins swore in new council members Chris Paus and Steve Zuchek (with Ron King to follow next month after an unfortunate accident delayed his ceremony). We also welcomed our new town secretary, Janie, who was stepping into the big shoes left by beloved Donna. Other developments include two new Shell gas stations now open for business and a Sprouts Farmers Market under construction in neighboring Providence Village.
The podcast covers upcoming community events you won't want to miss, including extended hours at the Crossroads Summer Market, live music at Prairie House, and entertainment options at Pilot Point Coffee House. Most importantly, we extend a heartfelt invitation for every resident, adults and teenagers alike, to get involved with local government. Your voice matters in shaping our community's future! Connect with us at [email protected] and let's continue building the Cross Roads we all want to call home.
