Had a great conversation with Chris Ham, the Executive Director for The Rescue Outreach Mission in Sanford today on the Check Your Six podcast. The last episode for 2024 was a great way to talk end the year and talk about the issues and challenges that our community has with homeless population here in Central Florida. As Seminole County's only homeless shelter, they have done a fantastic job over the past several years changing the view of homelessness and providing assistance through the partnerships they have in the business community and through our county officials. The Seminole County Commissioners, county and local police and fire departments are fantastic partners in helping to meet this crisis. Respect, compassion and dignity are the key phrases for the Rescue Outreach Mission and the nearly 100,000 meals they will serve and the individuals and families that they provide shelter for each year are examples of those pillars. The face of homeless has changed over the years, it is not what it used to be and I was thankful that Chris was able to sit down and talk about their role.
