The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has provided formal guidance to system and risk owners in various industry sectors about how to prepare for the migration to post-quantum cryptography. While symmetric cryptography is not significantly impacted by quantum technology, the NCSC said PQC will eventually replace vulnerable PKC algorithms, providing secure alternatives for key establishment and digital signatures. System owners are advised to start planning for integration of PQC into their infrastructure, with the migration likely happening seamlessly through software updates for commodity IT – but requiring more effort for bespoke or enterprise IT systems. You can listen to all of the Quantum Minute episodes at https://QuantumMinute.com.
