Welcome to Cyberpunk Cinema – the Definitive Dive into the Dark Future of Science Fiction. I am your host, Anthony La Pira, and I will be taking you on a cinematic journey through the sprawling cityscapes, the crippling datastorms, and the cybernetic implants that encompass all things Cyberpunk.
In this week’s episode, I will be breaking-down the great lega-sequel 2010 cyberpunk movie, Tron Legacy – directed by Joseph Kosinski, written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, starring Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, and Michael Sheen.
The son of a virtual world designer goes looking for his father and ends up inside the digital world that his father designed. He meets his father’s corrupted creation and a unique ally who was born inside the digital world.
Tron Legacy
is one of the best cyberpunk films of this century. It holds a special place in my heart because I showed this film to my 4-year-old son back in 2011 and it became one of the first films that he obsessed over. We watched it dozens of times together and I was shocked by how much more I loved it watching HIM experience it through his eyes. It made the film that much more poignant, especially with the father/son angle in the film. Let’s just say, this viewing definitely got me teary-eyed.

So, do me a favor – it’s time to access your cranial jacks, boot up your Ono-Sendai Cyberspace 7, and slap on your damn mirror-shades. You know what time it is! Cyberpunk Cinema starts…now!
