La politique devrait être un exercice d’analyse et de vision, pas une simple opposition de peurs et de réactions. Et pourtant, c’est ce qu’on observe en cette camapagne électorale canadienne de 2025. En tant qu’entrepreneur et gens d’affaires, quel est notre responsabilité au-delà d’aller voter le 28 avril? [INTRODUCTION] Bonjour à toutes et à tous, bienvenue dans cet épisode de [nom de votre podcast]. Aujourd’hui, on va parler d’un sujet qui nous concerne tous en tant que citoyens et citoyennes : la campagne électorale canadienne. Si, en lisant le titre ou en voyant l’image de cet épisode, vous vous êtes dit : “Mais on est sur LinkedIn, pas sur Fakebook !”, alors notre conversation risque de commencer sur une fausse note. Parce que je crois qu’on est bien plus que de simples “professionnels”. On est aussi des parents, des ami.e.s, des citoyens avec des responsabilités. Avant même d’être ce qu’on veut bien afficher sur nos profils, nous sommes avant tout des êtres humains qui vivent ensemble dans un environnement commun. Et c’est de cela dont il est question aujourd’hui. [CHAPITRE 1 : UNE CAMPAGNE ÉLECTORALE TERNE] Soyons honnêtes, cette campagne électorale est d’une fadeur incroyable. Il n’y a ni d’enjeux de société profonds, ni de projets inspirants pour notre avenir commun. À gauche comme à droite, c’est le vide intersidéral. L’automne dernier, jusqu’en janvier, on semblait quand même parler d’enjeux de société, d’économie et d’avenir. Mais depuis l’élection chez nos voisins du Sud et les demandes d’ajustement de l’USMCA, la campagne a basculé dans l’émotion pure et l’idéologie binaire. Ce n’est plus un débat d’idées, c’est une réaction viscérale aux attitudes des leaders politiques. [CHAPITRE 2 : UNE POLITIQUE VIDÉE DE SON SENS] La politique devrait être un exercice d’analyse et de vision, pas une simple opposition de peurs et de réactions. Et pourtant, c’est ce qu’on observe. La gauche s’appuie sur la peur et le rejet de “M. Orange”, pendant que la droite, fidèle à elle-même, réagit au quart de tour et tombe dans le piège de la polarisation. Objectivement, si on regarde les propositions concrètes, les conservateurs semblent avoir plus de solutions à offrir que les libéraux, notamment sur les enjeux domestiques et internationaux. Mais est-ce suffisant ? [CHAPITRE 3 : VOTER BLANC ?] Pour la première fois, je me demande si je ne vais pas voter blanc. Et je ne suis pas seul. En parlant avec des collègues, des ami.e.s, de la famille, je me rends compte que beaucoup partagent ce sentiment. Mais attention ! Je ne suis pas en train de militer pour le vote blanc. Ce que je propose ici, c’est une réflexion sur notre expérience citoyenne. Peut-on faire mieux que de simplement “choisir le moins pire” tous les quatre ans ? Peut-on imaginer une démocratie plus participative, plus agile, plus engageante ? [CHAPITRE 4 : REPRENDRE NOS RESPONSABILITÉS] Un élu ne peut pas tout faire seul. Comment des gestionnaires qui se basent sur des dossiers résumés par des assistants peuvent-ils prendre des décisions justes et informées ? Sur quelle base réaliste fondent-ils leurs choix ? On a trop délégué nos pouvoirs par facilité et manque de conscience collective. Et après, on reproche à la politique son manque d’imagination et de courage. Mais c’est à nous de changer cela. On a le gouvernement qu’on mérite. On ne peut pas baser notre société uniquement sur l’accumulation de profits. Une société viable, c’est une société qui prend conscience de la collectivité, de ses droits et de ses devoirs. [CHAPITRE 5 : UNE RÉFLEXION POUR VOUS] – COEUR L’individualisme conduit directement à l’isolement, au sectarisme, autrement dit : à la misère humaine. Vous êtes conscient.e ? RÉFLÉCHISSEZ, je nous pose les questions suivantes : Quel motivation vous agite à ce point ? De quoi avez vous vraiment envie ? Quels moyens vous donnez vous réellement pour y accéder ? De quoi avez vous vraiment besoin ? Qu’avez vous comblez de ces besoins et envies ? Comment réagissez-vous devant cette frustration ? À quoi croyez-vous réussir ? Comment assumez-vous l’échec ? À quoi croyez-vous ? À qui croyez vous ? À quoi pensez-vous ? À qui pensez-vous ? Quel bonheur est censé vous apporter la soif du profit et de son accumulation ? Quels biens vous font du bien ? Qu’allez-vous manger une fois qu’il ne vous restera plus que de l’argent et du matériel transformé ? Pourquoi allez-vous voter ? Pour qui voulez vous voter ? Pourquoi ce choix ? Avez-vous vraiment le choix ? Croyez-vous en la démocratie au Canada ? Est-ce que notre civilisation a vraiment progressé ? Avez-vous déjà falsifié une histoire ? Pensez-vous que l’histoire de l’humanité est constamment falsifiée ? [CHAPITRE 6 : VOTER, C’EST TOUS LES JOURS] On vote tous les quatre ans, mais en vérité, on vote tous les jours. Nos actions, nos choix, nos refus, tout cela façonne le monde dans lequel on vit. Ce sont les petites gouttes d’eau qui font les torrents, les rivières, puis les mers. The Agile Crossroads: From PMI’s Takeover to Building an Agora for Responsible Agility 35:41

Following the PMI Global and Agile Alliance annoucement of merging effort together, A.Frédéric Joly , CEO of AFJ Solutions Holding Group have this to say on his special Podcast, this Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Here’s the transcript: “Good day, everyone, and thank you for tuning in. Today, I want to address a significant development in the Agile and project management communities. On January 3rd, Agile Alliance announced its integration into the Project Management Institute (PMI), marking what they describe as ‘a new phase of global development.’ However, I believe this decision represents a counter-revolutionary move, one that undermines the very essence of Agile as a mindset and its transformative values. Let’s take a closer look at this announcement and explore its broader implications for the Agile movement.” The Announcement and Its Framing: “According to the press release, Agile Alliance — founded in 2001 by several co-authors of the Agile Manifesto — will now operate as PMI Agile Alliance. The press release positions this merger as a way to ‘broaden skill sets, expand access to resources, and foster a flexible mindset’ within the project management profession. On the surface, this sounds like a win-win collaboration. However, I challenge the underlying premise of this merger. PMI, historically known for its structured and prescriptive methodologies, represents a fundamentally different philosophy than Agile. While the Agile Manifesto advocates for adaptability, collaboration, and iterative delivery, PMI’s approach often emphasizes control, documentation, and rigid planning. This merger risks diluting Agile’s original intent, transforming it into just another tool in PMI’s project management arsenal.” The Misalignment of Values: “Agile was never meant to be a mere ‘delivery approach.’ It is a mindset grounded in principles that prioritize individuals, interactions, and responsiveness over rigid processes. PMI’s integration of Agile Alliance signals a troubling departure from these values. Instead of fostering agility, this move leans toward assimilation into a system that Agile was created to disrupt. Teresa Foster, the Managing Director of Agile Alliance, asserts that this partnership will help ‘spread Agile principles and values.’ But how can these values be preserved when the partnership itself undermines the principles of decentralization, innovation, and respect for emergent practices? Agile has always thrived at the edges of bureaucracy — not within it.” A Responsible Alternative to Agile’s Future: “At Agile Lounge, we stand for what I call ‘ Responsible Agility. ’ This means staying true to the Manifesto’s principles while embracing innovation and continuous improvement. It also means challenging moves like this one, which could regress the Agile movement instead of advancing it. We believe Agile should evolve organically, guided by practitioners and communities — not by aligning itself with institutions whose mandates are incompatible with Agile’s core. Joining forces with PMI is not a bold leap forward; it’s a retreat into a framework that prioritizes conformity over creativity.” Calling Out the Implications: “This merger is not about promoting agility — it’s about PMI’s strategic positioning. By absorbing Agile Alliance, PMI gains credibility in a space it has struggled to own. Meanwhile, Agile Alliance loses its independence and, with it, the ability to act as a steward of Agile values. What’s particularly disappointing is the abdication of Agile Alliance’s responsibility to its community. For over 20 years, it stood as a champion of Agile practices and principles. Now, instead of deepening its commitment to Agile’s evolution, it has chosen the path of least resistance by joining an institution that thrives on standardization and control.” Closing Thoughts: “As members of the Agile community, we must ask ourselves: What kind of future do we want for Agile? Do we want it to remain a movement rooted in empowerment, innovation, and adaptability? Or are we willing to let it be reduced to a commoditized skillset that fits neatly into a corporate hierarchy? C’est avec une certaine mélancolie et une réflexion approfondie que je vous écris aujourd’hui pour annoncer ma démission officielle du mouvement Agile , tel qu’il est devenu. Cette décision, bien que difficile , marque la fin d’un chapitre qui a profondément façonné ma carrière et ma vision du travail collaboratif. Dans mes blogs et podcasts, notamment “ Death of an Agile Coach ” et “ End of Agile ”, entre autre billets, j’ai exprimé mes préoccupations et mes frustrations face à l’évolution de ce mouvement que nous avons tous, à un moment ou un autre, porté avec passion et conviction. Ces réflexions publiques ont été autant un cri du cœur qu’un appel à revenir aux fondations : les principes simples et puissants du Manifeste Agile . Lorsque j’ai rejoint cette aventure, l’Agilité était une promesse. Une promesse de collaboration humaine authentique, de simplicité élégante et d’amélioration continu e . J’ai eu l’honneur de contribuer à des transformations significatives, d’accompagner des équipes, des leaders et des organisations vers de nouvelles façons de travailler , et même de me tenir aux côtés de pionniers tels que Mike Beedle , dont l’ esprit visionnaire reste gravé dans ma mémoire. Aujourd’hui, je constate avec regret que cette promesse a été détournée . Ce qui était une quête d’excellence est devenu, trop souvent, un exercice de conformité . Ce qui était une démarche empirique et humble s’est transformé en une industrie codifiée, alourdie par des frameworks rigides et des certifications qui semblent parfois trahir l’esprit même de l’Agilité. Il ne s’agit pas ici de renier tout ce que j’ai accompli ou appris, mais de reconnaître que le mouvement Agile, tel qu’il est aujourd’hui, ne reflète plus ma vision ni mes valeurs. Mon engagement reste intact envers les principes qui ont fait naître l’Agilité, mais je choisis désormais de les porter dans d’autres initiatives, libérées des chaînes institutionnelles et de l’uniformité ambiante. Je quitte ce mouvement , mais non sans gratitude. Chaque projet, chaque échange, chaque mentorat m’a enrichi d’une manière inestimable. À celles et ceux qui continuent ce chemin, je vous souhaite de puiser dans l’authenticité et l’audace qui ont toujours été le véritable moteur du changement. Merci pour ces années de passion, de défis et d’apprentissage. Merci pour ce voyage. I Am Stepping Away from the Agile Movement It is with a mix of nostalgia and solemn reflection that I share this decision: I am officially stepping away from my active participation in the Agile movement as it exists today. This choice, while deeply personal, is not made lightly . It marks the end of a chapter that has profoundly shaped my professional journey, from working alongside pioneers like Mike Beedle to building Agile Lounge®, where I sought to uphold the original spirit of Agile. In my blogs and podcasts, including “ Death of an Agile Coach ” and “ End of Agile ,” among other paper and podcasts, I have voiced my concerns about the direction the movement has taken . What was once a beacon of simplicity, collaboration, and continuous improvement now feels burdened by industrialization, rigid frameworks, and an overemphasis on certification rather than substance. When I first joined this journey, Agile was a promise . It was a call to empower people , foster genuine collaboration , and deliver meaningful value through empiricism and adaptability . I believed—and still believe—that these principles have the power to transform not only organizations but also the lives of those who work within them. Yet over time, that promise seems to have drifted . Too often, what we see today is a far cry from the original vision. Agile has become, in many cases, a codified industry focused on compliance rather than outcomes . Its humanistic and empirical roots seem overshadowed by bureaucracy and dogma. In stepping away , I am not abandoning the core values of Agile. On the contrary, I am reclaiming them . My energy will now be directed toward initiatives that embody those values without the weight of institutional conformity . For me, Agile is not about adhering to a specific framework; it’s about embracing a mindset of simplicity, authenticity, and value-driven action. To those who continue on this path, I offer my sincere respect. The journey ahead is not without challenges , but the potential for meaningful change remains vast if we stay true to Agile’s founding principles. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. From clients and colleagues to the vibrant Agile and Scrum people who walk the talk , you have enriched my vision and deepened my understanding. As I step away from the movement, I do so with gratitude—and a commitment to carry the spirit of Agile, and more over Business Agility , into new horizons .
