Armando Persico lives in the northern region of Italy, the epicenter of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Europe. During the first wave of the pandemic, he lost four members of his family. His life and the lives of everyone in Italy had been shaken to the core. Seeing a glimmer of hope, Armando uses this unfortunate episode of the pandemic to connect with and teach his high school students about important lessons that are not in the books-the importance of solidarity, empathy, and resiliency in life and in keeping a nation together. Armando Persico is an award-winning Italian entrepreneurship and science educator and 2017 Global Teacher Prize finalist.
