On this week's Discuss All Monsters we have another brief episode with our discussion on 1963's Atragon, a sort of turning point in the creative powers behind Toho's monster movies thus far. We talk about the movie's stance on nationalism and the way out-of-touch leaders try to halt progress as well as some of its shortcomings on that same issue. We also talk specifically about Eiji Tsuburaya and how maybe some of his ambitions started to outpace what he could do with Toho leading to him opening his own studio.
