This hidden part of history has been excluded from most of the documents. However, it would shed more light on the current complicated relationship between Russia and Ukraine by tracing back to the time of the Soviet Union. The purge of Ukrainian intellectuals followed by the intentional, horrific famine to exterminate the peasantry, initiated by Stalin, was a forceful action to crackdown on the distinctively Ukrainian culture and national identity.
