Today we remember. This episode is recorded on Memorial Day. Sharon embraces the remembrances in our lives. Today we express gratitude for the men and women who gave their lives so that we might live in this great nation. Month brings other remembrances for us all with Mother's Day. For Sharon, it is the month she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Now she is 14 years cancer free. Praise God!! Yesterday was also her and Scott's 34th anniversary, and they are grateful for the blessing in their marriage and for their wonderful sons-Taylor with his wife Reid and their little ones, Levi and Hadley; and Bradley who lives with Jesus and is more alive than he has ever been.

It is good to remember--to remember God's love in giving His only Son Jesus to die for our sins, to remember for communion which is the Lord's Supper, to remember His faithfulness in our lives, To cultivate gratitude, to confess our sins and grow, to teach the next generation about God, to anchor our hope. It is not good to remember and get stuck in guilt and shame. This is a trap of the enemy.

It is not good to look back and long for a life that God called you away from. This is proven in the lesson of Lot's wife from the Bible. She looked back longingly at Sodom's corrupt life, and she was rendered a lifeless statue of salt whose gaze was then always turned to Sodom. We can learn a valuable lesson from her. We must strive to move forward regardless of our path. When God reveals His plan to us, we need to follow Him.

Philippians 3:13-14 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

We find that no matter what we face, through all the blessings and the heartaches, God's love endures forever (Psalm 136). He is closer than a brother to His children and He will never leave us nor forsake us.
