“… this dual process coping seems to be the way of midlife.” I hope summer is going well for you all. In this episode I share that my summer is feeling weird and all the change that I have been coping with. This summer has felt different. I share how I have been looking back, missing the simple summers at the pool when my kids were younger. I mention that redoing my daughter's room has been bringing up lots of nostalgic memories. I am also excited for my children to leave the nest but it is such a bittersweet time. I also share how our trip to the Cleveland Natural History museum with its new renovation was a metaphor to what I have been feeling as we appreciated the new but were looking for all the familiar past things we loved about the museum. I finish with a quote from an article that describes my feelings quite well, both the mourning and the reinvention. Looking back and also looking forward.
