Welcome to the FOGS Queenslander Podcast Episode 25!

In this episode, our host Mark Braybrook is joined by FOG # 111 Mat Rogers. Mat has the distinction of scoring all of Queensland’s points in his origin debut, a 9-8 win in game 1 of the 1999 series. Mat was born in Caringbah in New South Wales and moved to Queensland at the age of 9 where he played for the Nerang Roosters.

Despite being eligible for both states, Mat chose Queensland and went on to play five Origin matches for the maroons, scoring 37 points in those five games.

Mat made his test debut for Australia in 1998 and was a member of 2000 World Cup winning side.

Following the 2001 season, Mat left Cronulla and the NRL to play rugby where he represented the Wallabies on 45 occasions.

In 2007, Mat returned to rugby league and was a member of the Gold Coast Titans inaugural team in 2007, retiring from the game due to injury in 2011 after 200 games.
