Blake Winchester’s ambitious plan to create the most patriotic Nativity scene the world has ever seen takes a turn for the absurd as tensions with his neighborhood reach a breaking point. With baby Jesus swaddled in an American flag, wise men recast as Founding Fathers, and a 12-foot bald eagle perched above it all, Blake’s display becomes the talk—and bane—of the neighborhood. As the HOA, city inspectors, and disgruntled neighbors push back against his over-the-top vision, Blake digs his heels in, determined to fight for what he believes is the true meaning of Christmas.
When his glorious eagle statue collapses, taking out part of his roof and Greg’s lawnmower in the process, Blake’s determination gives way to chaos. His attempts to exit the confrontation end in humiliation when an icy driveway sends him crashing to the ground, leaving his patriotic boxer shorts exposed to the entire neighborhood. The Great Nativity Battle ends in defeat, but Blake vows to rise again, declaring, “Next year, you’ll all see.”
