Every Time You Remember, Forgive Again
Manage episode 489398944 series 3561225
A question for you today … well a couple actually. Who are the one or two people in your life who’ve hurt you the most? And since then, have you been able to forgive them – I mean, completely forgive them?
There’s one man in my life who, in the worst possible way, has betrayed me more than anyone else on the planet. And I’ll be honest with you, forgiving him these past thirty years (yep, it’s that been long!) has been an ongoing struggle.
Now, I know the theory. Forgiveness sets you free – and it does. And God is in the forgiveness business, which is why He’s so adamant that we forgive others.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and loving to each other. Forgive each other the same as God forgave you through Christ.
So, back to the one or two people who’ve hurt you more than any others. As you think about him, her or them right in this moment … I mean, if you ran into them in the street right now, would you be kind and loving towards them?
Have you indeed forgiven them as God forgave you through your faith in the death of Jesus on that Cross for your sins?
For me, forgiveness hasn’t been a one-time thing. In my experience, you need to choose it repeatedly, over and over again, even if the offense happened years ago. Every time you remember, you can choose to forgive again – for your freedom, your joy and your peace.
Don't allow bitterness to ruin your life. Don’t allow your unforgiveness to drive a wedge between you and God. Each time you remember, forgive again.
Be kind and loving to each other. Forgive each other the same as God forgave you through Christ.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
