It’s time to step back, waaaaay back. So far back that you can observe the overall shape and structure of the extract. Put down your language analysis microscope, step back and enjoy the view. Forget about the effect of individual words and phrases and think about where the writer is pointing that focus and where and why that changes. Sounds like fun... right?
